Supporting Family Farms

As we are a small family-owned company, we are proud to support other small family-owned enterprises. We believe that supporting small family owned farms is an integral component in sustaining a history of tradition, artisan detail, and pride in the craftsmanship of fine quality foods. We place great value on organically and traditionally grown and crafted foods, confident with the knowledge that it has been produced in a way that enhances your well-being and regenerates a quality of ecological and cultural wealth.

Some background on the source of our products…

Polish agriculture is uniquely positioned in the European Union as most of the 1.9 million farms average just 7 hectares of land, (in comparison to 18 hectares in the EU and 200 hectares in North America). Poland’s network of old, family owned farms has not undergone mechanization or the massive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, characteristic of North American and EU industrial agriculture. The yields are also 20-30% less than that of these more industrial and output-intensive agricultural farms. However, this approach to farming enjoys a greater symbiosis with nature. Pursuing higher yields would reduce the quality, flavour, and nutritional value of food. We understand this Old World approach and pride ourselves on specializing in an assorted selection of organic products and traditionally crafted foods. We believe that supporting small family farms, particularly organic farms, benefits us all by contributing to a healthier and more sustainable future.

All our quality products are sourced from organically certified farms and are crafted by organically certified purveyors and producers. All organic certification is enforced by Ekogwarancja PTRE, the largest Polish Certifying Body. In Poland, the Polish Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is the competent authority responsible for regulating the organic sector, ensuring that all obligations and requirements of the regulations are adhered to. Accordingly, the Ministry is empowered by the European Union/ Community regulations governing organic production. These are extremely strict, legally enforceable standards describing the inputs and practices used in organic food production so that the products can be classified as organic and carry the EU organic logo.

Organic Farming

There is nothing better than products cultivated in defined geographical areas using traditional, family-based methods. For centuries, this form of traditional cultivation has shaped the cuisine of Europe, from the honeys of Portugal and the creamy cheeses of France and Holland to the cured, smoked hams of Germany and Poland. These culinary delights preserve the integrity, traditions, farming techniques and regional flavors of Europe while ensuring that consumers enjoy the very finest that the European Union has to offer.
